Alabama Shakes are everything that I love in a band. They have no concern at all for the bullshit of being glamorous rock stars. It starts and ends with the music. Brittany Howard is a tour de force, plays a Gibson SG and leaves her soul on the stage when she performs. The rest of the band they’ve got it going on, too. They are special.
Granted they never deviate from their southern soul rock and I couldn’t be happier about that. Listen to this EP and I think you’ll agree. Even better go see them live. You’ll be happy you did.
